| 'Beauty and the Beast' at Stage West Dinner Theatre
"Beauty's been decreased," ran the parody version of the title song in the satirical revue Forbidden Broadway. Well it has been further decreased now to fit the cozy confines of Stage West. Even so, director Lee MacDougall delivers a crisp, tightly paced production that will surely delight family audiences. Adults in search of something edgier may want to steer clear but they are about the only ones who will not respond to this charming fairy tale. Gino Berti's lively choreography is executed with precision by a talented team of dancers. The "Gaston" number was particularly dazzling. "Be Our Guest" suffers a little from the reduction, but the song is so well known and loved it hardly matters. The leading performers are especially effective starting with Ashley Taylor as the winsome Belle.
The Medium Is the Moral
In 1999, when Glidden announced the computer initiative, I was his special assistant and helped field complaints about our catering to popular culture. In response to an e-mail asking him to comment on the Duke program, Glidden wrote, “You will recall that we had a bit of this reaction to our computers-in-the-dorms project," that students would use the PCs more for personal e-mail and gaming than for studies. “I'm sure they still use them for that purpose," Glidden added, “but gradually and rather quickly, actually, the computers were used more and more for serious study purposes." However, Glidden adds, a key difference between Ohio's computer experience and Duke's iPod one “is that we KNEW there would be plenty of practical, exciting possibilities for the use of computers" — from the digital library to the Internet.
First Look: Apple TV, take two
Should Steve Jobs' presentation have blotted the functionality of the “original" Apple TV from your memory, allow me to compare and contrast that original device with the “Take Two" update announced during Jobs' address. Price: Okay, easily done. The 40GB Apple TV sold for $299 and yesterday Apple shaved $70 from the price tag. The 160GB Apple TV, which those of us who preferred to stream our content thought bore more storage than necessary, moved from $399 to $329; another $70 price drop. (People who invested in the early days of the Apple TV will be rewarded not by a $70 rebate but by receiving the new "Take Two" software update as a free download in two weeks.) Content: For the most part, you had to move content to the original Apple TV from your computer (streaming YouTube videos and previews from the iTunes Store being the exception).

The Acer Aspire 2920-302G25Mn is an ultraportable 're-imagining' of the all-purpose Gemstone series; offering a similar performance in a lightweight package. Provided you can overlook its garish interior, there's plenty to love about this little gem of a performer. .

Sure, sure, it's all been done before, but now I get to do it. Without further ado, here is my all-name team. 20 - Rod Smart - Who the Hell is Rod Smart you ask? Well he is none other than the fool who called himself "He Hate Me" and pretty much epitomized the debacle that was the XFL. 19. Elbert L. "Ickey" Woods - Running back his entire carreer for the Bengals. Hey, how many guys not named Humpty Hump have a dance named after them. The Ickey Shuffle remains high on the all time celebrations list. 18. "Chocolate Thunder" Darryl Dawkins - Perhaps more appropriate for wrestling or porn, but still has a nice ring to it. 17. "Pistol" Pete Maravich - LSU grad was a known practicioner of yoga, a part time ufologist, and could also play a little basketball. Died of a heart attack in 1988 at a young age.
